Baby, it’s cold outside!

We have been experiencing record low nighttime temperatures for over a week with no end in sight to the single and negative digits.  Daytime is “warmer” in the teens to low 20’s.  The wind chill really drops that temperature quickly.

The hay fields are dormant and the ground is frozen which means we can drive on the fields with minimal damage to the roots.  We will begin spreading fertilizer on the fields after the first of the year.

We are now 3″ below average rainfall.  Considering we get 7-10″ annually this will have quite an impact on our fields if we don’t get sufficient moisture during the rest of this winter.
