Filling the pivot tracks with gravel

Today we filled some of the pivot tracks.

As a pivot moves around the field the wheels wear tracks in the field.  Over time the pivot track deepens.  Not only does this put stress on the pivot frame and motor but it makes it more difficult to cut and bale the field.

Before the tracks become too deep we fill them with gravel.  We have a piece of equipment specifically made for this purpose which is made by Oteco.

Our upcoming 3rd generation farmers, Jasper, Hunter and Noah, rode with their Dads and Grandpa helping accomplish this task.

Below Grandpa is teaching Jasper how to run a pivot.  The pivot needed moved before the gravel could be spread in the track.
