We turned off irrigation today in preparation for 4th cutting. It takes longer in the fall for the fields to dry out prior to cutting because of the cooler temperatures and overnight dew.
We clean, rake and grade the hay yard so the hay is set on a raised bed of dry basalt rock. This protects the bottom bales from being damaged by ground moisture.
